Bloody Point on Daufuskie Island

Saturday, April 21st, 2007

The Golf Goddess and I had another great day of golf on Daufuskie Island. This time we got to play Bloody Point Golf course. I had heard a lot about this course, some good and some bad. The layout reminded me a lot of an old fashioned course, with no concrete or other man made cart paths. Traversing this course was easy if you just followed the trails left by all the previous golf carts.

There are some very interesting holes here with plenty of sand and water to keep you on your toes and thinking about the smart shot rather than the heroic one. Although not as scenic and well groomed as Melrose, Bloody Point still has a lot to offer. The course is challenging  but not overly difficult and is fun to play.

In comparison to the rustic nature of the golf course, the huge clubhouse is the polar opposite. Outside, there is a large porch on the back with tables and chairs. Inside, you immediately notice the lush dark woods on the walls and the beautiful carpeting. A well stocked Pro Shop with friendly staff and a nice lounge make for a relaxing 19th hole atmosphere.

This course, in my opinion, should be a must play in your golf package. Call Mark at 1-888-445-8664 to arrange packages or check our golf website for more information.

Eagle Pointe from The Golf Godess

Despite a few rain showers, I do have to say that I truly enjoyed Eagle Pointe Golf Club. I found the course was in great shape and the greens were pretty tricky. Playing from the forward tees was very pleasant with some easy and some difficult holes, overall, I’d say very “female friendly”.

The staff was friendly and courteous. I would also like to say that it took only approximately 20 minutes to arrive at Eagle Pointe from my home in Palmetto Dunes. So if you’re looking for a course that is in fantastic shape and a pleasure to play, Eagle Pointe has my vote.

If you would like to include this course in a golf package, go to “golfhiltonheadisland.net” or call Mark at 1-888-445-8664.

We finally got to play Eagle Pointe on Wednesday. I’ve been in Hilton Head for 3 years and never managed to get here before this. It was well worth waiting for. This course is not spectacular in the usual sense, but it is really a great track. The holes are mostly straightaway with no doglegs, but plenty of bunkers to catch any stray shots.ep1bl.jpg

The fairways and greens are in terrific condition. Putting on these greens requires a good eye and knowledge of how to read breaks and the many undulations built into them. They are very true and with a little luck you can make a lot of putts. The weather was not the greatest with light showers and overcast skies, but we could still appreciate the beauty of the terrain and the layout of the course.

Eagle Pointe is one of the more popular courses included in Hilton Head Rental & Golf’s packages. You can arrange a Hilton Head Island golf package by visiting our website at “golfhiltonheadisland.net” or call Mark, our Golf Coordinator, at 1-888-445-8664.

Arthur Hills Palmetto Dunes Golf CourseArthur Hills Golf course

This golf course ranks as one of my top three on Hilton Head. The best thing about this course, in my opinion, is the conditioning. The fairways and the rough are both overseeded, producing lush, deep green settings. The holes are very diverse in design making each one more challenging than the last. There are numerous bunkers and water hazards to ensure that each shot has to be well thought out and executed.

Esthetically, this is one of the most beautiful courses in the area. The Pro Shop staff is very helpfulArthur Hills Golf Course and accommodating and the cart barn people and starters and rangers are also top notch. This is another must play course on Hilton Head Island and must be seen to really be appreciated.

Call Mark at 1-888-445-8664 or check golfhiltonheadisland.net and tell him the Par King said to include this course in your next golf package.

Ocean Course in Sea Pines on Hilton Head

Saturday, February 24th, 2007

We had a beautiful day on Sunday at the Ocean Course in Sea Pines. Temps were in the high 70’s and it was a bright sunny day.

This is truly a wonderful golf course from any point of view. The fairways and greens were in perfect condition. Every hole was different and offered its own challenges, from water on both sides of the fairway to bunkers in the middle of the fairway and surrounding the green.

This course is next to Sea Marsh which is undergoing a complete makeover of every hole. Construction is scheduled for completion by September. There are tree lined holes with dog legs and holes that run to the ocean with spectacular views. There is enough water on the course to supply a small city, although it’s no more difficult to navigate than any other course with the same hazards.

This is Hilton Head’s first golf course and has been redesigned by Mark McCumber emphasizing interest, challenge and strategy while preserving the natural beauty of Sea Pines.

Call Mark, our Goldf Coordinator at 1-888-445-8664 if you would like to include the Ocean Course in one of his golf packages. Also check our golf website at golfhiltonheadisland.net .

Guscio Excitement

Tuesday, October 10th, 2006

On Tuesday, October 9, 2006 a small wedding and reception were held at Guscio 9 on Hilton Head Island. With special permission from Hilton Head Rentals and Golf and the property owner, an afternoon ceremony on the beach united Diana and Shannon. The bride and groom have been kind enough to share a few pictures with us.  Congratulations and Good Luck Diana and Shannon from all of us here at Hilton Head Rentals and Golf.

Arthur Hills-Palmetto Dunes

Tuesday, August 22nd, 2006

ken blog.jpgThe Par King and the Golfing Goddess played this course on Wednesday. It’s a delightful track. There are some very easy and some very difficult holes, but all of them are enjoyable. Beautiful rolling fairways add to the esthetic value while undulating greens and strategically placed bunkers add to the frustration level.

The Pro Shop is extremely well stocked and the entire staff, down to the cart attendants, are very helpful. All the courses in Palmetto Dunes now have “air conditioned carts”. A small pump is mounted on each side of the cart. When you sit down, a fine mist of water is sprayed onto the back of your neck. You can adjust the hose to hit different parts of your body and it also has a low,
medium and high setting. It made my day a little better considering the temperature was in  the low 90’s that day. This course should be on your list of “must play” when you’re on Hilton Head. See you next time.
